«مشاجرة» تحرم مهاجماً من المونديال

8 سنوات ولا زالت القضية عالقة بالمحاكم بسبب «مشاجرة» والتي كانت عام 2018 حتى اللحظة، بين مهاجم المنتخب السويسري بريل إمبولو الذي لم يغادر مع البعثة إلى الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية الذين رفضوا منحه تأشيرة دخول البلاد.

وقبل تسعة أيام على حفل افتتاح المونديال، في المكسيك بمباراة سويسرا أمام جنوب إفريقيا، كشف الاتحاد السويسري لكرة القدم، مفاجأة كبيرة قائلا إن بريل إمبولو مهاجم المنتخب لم يسافر إلى الولايات المتحدة بسبب إشكال في الحصول على التأشيرة. وأضاف: «لم يسافر إمبولو مع المنتخب بعد وضع تصريح السفر الإلكتروني الخاص به قيد المراجعة، مما يهدده جديا بالغياب عن النهائيات».

وتأتي أزمة إمبولو بعد أن أصبح حكم محكمة سويسرية مرتبط بمشاجرة وقعت في بازل عام 2018 باتا ونهائياً قبل تسعة أشهر من الآن.

وأدين مهاجم ستاد رين في عام 2023 بتهمة توجيه تهديدات متعددة، وحكم عليه بغرامة مع وقف التنفيذ، وهو حكم تم تأييده في الاستئناف بعد أن رفض القضاة روايته للحادثة، وذكرت وسائل إعلام سويسرية في أبريل نيسان أن إمبولو قرر عدم رفع القضية إلى المحكمة الفيدرالية، ما جعل الحكم نهائياً.

وأضاف الاتحاد السويسري لكرة القدم في بيان:«لسوء الحظ، لن يستطيع إمبولو السفر حاليا إلى الولايات المتحدة مع الفريق، وبالرغم من أن الموافقة على تصريح السفر الإلكتروني الخاص به سارية حتى صباح اليوم. ومع ذلك في الساعة 1030 (بالتوقيت المحلي)، تم إبلاغنا بأن الطلب الخاص به قد وضع قيد المراجعة الإضافية»، وتابع:«نحن على اتصال مباشر حاليا بالسلطات المعنية ونتوقع أن يسافر بريل في وقت لاحق اليوم أو غدا وينضم إلى الفريق حينها».

من جانبه قال المتحدث الرسمي للمنتخب:«سبق وأن سمح لمهاجمنا إمبولو بدخول البلاد آنذاك».

For 8 years, the case has been stuck in the courts due to a "brawl" that occurred in 2018, involving Swiss national team striker Breel Embolo, who did not travel with the delegation to the United States, as they refused to grant him a visa to enter the country.

Nine days before the World Cup opening ceremony in Mexico, with Switzerland facing South Africa, the Swiss Football Association revealed a major surprise, stating that striker Breel Embolo did not travel to the United States due to issues in obtaining a visa. They added: "Embolo did not travel with the team after his electronic travel authorization was put under review, which seriously threatens his absence from the finals."

The Embolo crisis comes after a ruling by a Swiss court related to a brawl that took place in Basel in 2018 became final nine months ago.

In 2023, the Stade Rennais striker was convicted of making multiple threats and was sentenced to a suspended fine, a ruling that was upheld on appeal after judges rejected his account of the incident. Swiss media reported in April that Embolo decided not to take the case to the federal court, making the ruling final.

The Swiss Football Association added in a statement: "Unfortunately, Embolo will not be able to travel to the United States with the team at this time, even though the approval for his electronic travel authorization was valid until this morning. However, at 10:30 AM (local time), we were informed that his application had been put under additional review," and continued: "We are currently in direct contact with the relevant authorities and expect Breel to travel later today or tomorrow and join the team then."

The spokesperson for the national team said: "Our striker Embolo was previously allowed to enter the country back then."
