أكد أمير منطقة عسير الأمير تركي بن طلال، أن هبوط نادي أبها لدوري يلو مسبقاً لم يسرّنا على كل حال، ولكن عندما رأينا إدارة جديدة، تابعناها، وراقبنا أداءها، واطلعنا على إيمانها بفكرة صعود عسير، وهي الخطة التي رسمها ولي العهد، واعتمدها للمنطقة، والذي ينضم لهذه الخطة سنسخر كل مواردنا للوقوف معه أياً كان، فيما وضعنا كل مواردنا مع نادي أبها، والنتيجة طلع الأول على المملكة وبطل الدوري، وأُهنئهم جداً، والآن أعيننا على نادي ضمك بدون شك، ولكن في وجهات النظر فيما يتعلق بنظرة إدارة نادي ضمك لصعود عسير، ليست كنظرتنا من الأساس، ولذا لم نسخر كل الموارد باتجاه نادي ضمك ولكن عندما رأيناهم الآن، وتبقت مباراتان، وممكن يهبط الفريق لدوري يلو، "قلنا لا"، وسنسخر كل مواردنا ونقف معهم بكل سرور وبدون شك.
وحول إمكانية حضور الأمير تركي بن طلال، ودعمه لضمك في مواجهة النصر القادمة بمدينة الرياض، قال: "لكل حادث حديث"، وزيارتي الأخيرة لتدريبات ضمك شهدت حديثاً مع اللاعبين، أشرت خلاله إلى أن الدعم تأخر لأسباب تم شرحها، وأكدت لهم أننا معكم"قلباً وقالباً"، حتى الخميس القادم.
وشدد الأمير تركي بن طلال، على أن المملكة تعيش نهضة شاملة في مختلف المجالات، وفي القطاع الرياضي بشكل خاص، مؤكداً أن منطقة عسير تحظى باهتمام كبير ضمن مشاريع التطوير الوطنية، خاصة بعد اعتمادها من قبل الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم كإحدى المدن المستضيفة لكأس العالم، متسائلاً: هل يعقل أن منطقة بهذا الحجم والطموح لا تمتلك نادياً في دوري روشن؟، ومؤكداً أن الحراك الرياضي الحالي يأتي ضمن مشروع متكامل لصناعة نهضة رياضية تواكب الحدث.
ونفى أمير منطقة عسير ما يتردد حول ارتباط دعم ضمك لخدمة نادي الهلال في سباق المنافسة، مؤكداً أن ذلك لا أساس له من الصحة، ومضيفاً أن البعض ربما يربط الأمر بانتماءات بعض أفراد أسرتنا للهلال، وفي مقدمتهم مالك نادي الهلال الأمير الوليد بن طلال، وميولي مع المنتخب السعودي، واصفاً ذلك، "أنا منتخباوي"، ولا يمكنني أن أسخّر كافة موارد المنطقة كلها خلف ميولي إذا كانت تميل مع نادٍ، وهل هذا معقول؟... غير معقول.

Prince Turki bin Talal emphasized that the Kingdom is experiencing a comprehensive renaissance in various fields, particularly in the sports sector, confirming that the Asir region receives significant attention within national development projects, especially after it was approved by the International Football Federation as one of the host cities for the World Cup. He questioned: Is it reasonable for a region of this size and ambition not to have a club in the Roshan League? He affirmed that the current sports movement is part of a comprehensive project to create a sports renaissance that keeps pace with the event.
The Amir of the Asir region denied the rumors about the support for Damak being linked to serving Al-Hilal Club in the competition race, confirming that this has no basis in truth. He added that some might relate the matter to the affiliations of some members of our family with Al-Hilal, foremost among them being the owner of Al-Hilal Club, Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, and my inclinations with the Saudi national team, describing it as, "I am a national team supporter," and I cannot dedicate all the region's resources behind my inclinations if they align with a club. Is that reasonable?... It is unreasonable.
